Discipline Policy Updates Image

Dear Camp Curtin Academy Parents and Guardians,

We hope this letter finds you and your family well. We are writing to inform you of important updates to our school discipline policy regarding student altercations and fighting on campus.

Policy Update: Enhanced Consequences for Fighting

Due to an increase in incidents of physical altercations among students, the administration has implemented enhanced disciplinary measures effective immediately. Any student involved in fighting will receive:

  • 10-day suspension from school pending parent conference and behavior contract

  • Citation issued by law enforcement

This decision was not made lightly but is necessary to maintain the safety and security of all students and staff members.

Our Commitment to Student Success

Our goal remains unchanged: to keep all students safe while creating an optimal environment for teaching and learning. We believe every student deserves to attend school in a secure, supportive atmosphere where they can focus on their education and personal growth.

Support Systems in Place

Camp Curtin Academy has comprehensive interventions available through our Multi-Tiered Support Systems (MTSS), which include:

  • Tier I: Universal supports for all students

  • Tier II: Targeted interventions for students needing additional support

  • Tier III: Intensive, individualized interventions

These systems are designed to address student needs proactively and provide appropriate support at every level.

Alternative Placement Program

Students who continue to violate school rules and regulations despite interventions may be referred to alternative placement at River Rock. This program provides specialized support for students who need a different educational environment to succeed.

Partnership with Families

As always, we value your partnership in making your child's middle school experience positive and successful. Your support and involvement are crucial to helping students make good choices and achieve their full potential.

Questions or Concerns

Should you have any questions or concerns regarding this policy update or your child's specific situation, please do not hesitate to contact the administration to schedule a parent conference. We are committed to open communication and working together in the best interests of all students.

Thank you for your continued support and cooperation.

Sincerely,

Ms. Michelle Young & Ms. Lauren Harris
